Fostering

The folks who choose to FOSTER  a dog, are truly our lifeblood.  The unique aspect of FOSTERING is the ability to take in a rescued dog for a short interim.

Fostering Requirements

FOSTERING REQUIREMENTS

  1. SINGLE FAMILY HOME
  2. YARD (NO POOLS)
  3. DOGGIE DOOR (PREFERRED)
  4. UNCONDITIONAL LOVE
  5. AND THE KNOWLEDGE OF HANDLING THE DOG

CSRF will provide much needed material to the foster(s) such as, i.e. food, treats, leash, collar, medicine, medical bills, toys, feeding bowls and a dog bed.

We have in the past donated dog food, as we sometimes receive it through donations.

Fosters also have the option to make a determination if the potential interested party is an eligible candidate.

This includes a “meet and greet” with potential adopter(s) and conducting a home visit.

Canine Rivalry

Canine rivalry refers to repeated conflicts between dogs living in the same household. Animals that live in social groups establish a structure within that group. For additional information see Whole Dog Journal.

Dogs & Pools

Swimming pools can be very dangerous for dogs. Their body weight is often too much for their legs to allow swimming. Keep your dogs safe from drowning with fences or skamper ramps. For additional information see Pool Safety Tips for Dogs.

House Breaking

House Breaking your new Cocker Spaniel need not be stressful for neither you or your new pet. Doggy doors are an excellent tool. Simple repetitive methods work best. Dogs normally digest between one and two hours after feeding. Ideally, you already have a doggy door. By “nosing” your dog through the doggy door the dog will then pick up the usage of the doggy door. Praise your pet when they relieve themselves. This makes house breaking very simple.
